“I want to take a moment to reflect on the incredible impact that the Revitalize Milwaukee partnership has had in our community, especially when it comes to ensuring that everyone has a safe and healthy place to call home. We look forward to supporting our neighbors at the 2025 Block Build.”

Block Build MKE is one of our signature events

Volunteers and community partners come together to transform multiple neighborhood blocks in one weekend. On this weekend, corporations and individuals work on up to 30 homes that are owned by low-income seniors, veterans, and/or those living with a disability.

The two days are full of activity—hundreds of volunteers donate their skills and sweat equity to complete numerous repairs and beautification updates. Every project we undertake is unique. Each home comes with a different history, specialized homeowner needs, and its own scope of work. Once deployed, we do everything from yard cleanup and painting to skilled plumbing, windows, electrical, and flooring repairs.

With hundreds of repairs getting done in only two days, there’s a job for everyone no matter your skill level. If you are not a team member of a company-sponsored house you are considered a general volunteer and will be assigned to a volunteer task where most needed to make this event a success. Take a look at some potential volunteer jobs and figure out which one you’d like the most:

  • Carpentry: tearing down and rebuilding porches, installing doors, etc.

  • Plumbing: installing new toilets and sinks

  • Electrical: installing new light fixtures

  • Painting

  • Landscaping

  • Assist with early morning set up

  • Helping with registration and set up/tear down.

in-kind donations

In-kind donations are essential to Revitalize Milwaukee because they provide goods or services that directly support our causes, often filling specific needs that financial donations might not cover. These donations can include anything from tools to building materials or supplies, making a significant impact by reducing operational costs. In-kind contributions enable Revitalize Milwaukee to allocate financial resources more effectively, allowing us to focus on other areas of our mission. In-kind donations offer a tangible way to contribute while creating a strong sense of community and shared responsibility. In-kind donations play a critical role in enhancing Revitalize Milwaukee’s effectiveness and supporting our mission.
